Choose the Right Wedding Planner
When it comes to your big day, chances are that you know exactly how you want every last detail to play out. But have you thought much about how those details will be executed? Or who will make sure that they get done? Before the panic sets in, there is a magical resource out there that will take over the role of detail-person and be your saving grace. These humans are wedding planners and we’ll give you the info you need to choose the right wedding planner.
First, it’s important to know that there are two major types of wedding planners: full-service planners to (help you) arrange every last detail and day-of coordinators. The full-service planners are who probably come to mind when you think “wedding planner”. These planners are with you step-by-step through the whole process, and although these services are usually more expensive, some couples would prefer to pay for the peace of mind, too.
On the other hand, if you’re more of the DIY kind of couple and would prefer to handle all the logistics on your own or it’s just not in your budget to pay for a full-service planner, then a day-of coordinator would better suit your style. (They actually start helping you roughly 30 days before the wedding, despite what the name suggest.) These coordinating gurus will handle all the last minute, stressful details so that you and your soon-to-be-spouse can focus solely on enjoying your special day.
Here’s What You Do…
It may seem like an easy task: Google wedding planners in your area. But how do you find your perfect wedding planner in the maze of options?
Look For Compatibility
If you’re opting for the full-service route, then you’re going to be talking to your wedding planner almost every day for MONTHS. So, it’s kind of important that you two can get along really well. Even if the full-service option isn’t what you end up doing, you’re still going to have to work closely with whoever you choose. A great way to figure out the compatibility angle is to have your initial consultation in-person.
Do They Have Experience?
How long have they been in the industry? Do they know what to do if worst-case scenario A, B, or C happens? A great way to see if their past experience fits with what you want for your wedding is to check out their portfolio. If possible, it might also be a good idea to reach out to one of their previous clients to see how their experience went. Even if the planner’s portfolio doesn’t include your exact dream wedding, that’s okay; the point is to find out if they have the experience and ability to execute your perfect wedding.
Which Vendors do They Work With?
This is an especially poignant point if you’re planning a destination wedding and not familiar with the area. (This also means that the wedding planner should be up-to-date on all the codes and laws that a wedding could possibly relate to.)
Ask Your Important Questions (And This Means the Money Question, Too!)
Your important questions could be different than other couple’s questions, so ask whatever you need to feel comfortable working together. Some big ones include talking about price, whether they’re free on the day you want to get married, what the timeline of working with them would look like, and what services they specifically offer.
So now you have the confidence needed to choose the right wedding planner. Another bit of good news is that All About You Entertainment was given the Best Event Planner in Savannah award last year. So we’ve worked hard to narrow down your choice to the wedding planner that knows Savannah the best.
